Top festivals to enjoy as part of your holiday in Ireland

Cork Midsummer Festival 16th – 25th June 2017

First up is Cork Midsummer Festival, Cork’s largest annual multi-disciplinary arts festival for all ages along the banks of the river Lee, with many national and international theatre and music events, and the return of family favourite, Picnic in the Park. Stay at one of Cork’s 13 caravan and camping parks and take in this great event.

Laya City Spectacular Dublin 7th – 9th July Cork 15 -16th July

This takes place in Dublin & Cork in July. Watch the world’s best all-round entertainers compete for the coveted ‘Street Performance World Champion’ title, and there’s a host of many more free family friendly events throughout the festival. A great event for all the family to enjoy whether you are holidaying in the area or overnighting in Dublin or Cork this is well worth a visit.

SeaFest 2017 Galway June 30th – July 2nd 2017

Galway Harbour will be transformed into an ‘open air sea world’ for the three-day festival with a host of FREE family friendly entertainment and attractions on water and land. PowerFly’s world champion flyboarders will perform stunning aerial acrobatics and there will be a veritable flotilla of ships, many of which are open for public tours. Another top attraction will be the return of the famous tall ship, The Phoenix, which was a huge draw at SeaFest 2016. Staying in Galway you can visit some of the great activities taking place from the comfort of your caravan or motorhome.

Wexford Maritime Festival July 1st – 2nd 2017

A celebration of Wexford’s rich maritime heritage and you can enjoy maritime activities, family fun, artisan food and music. Children can enjoy dance and musical activities, arts and crafts, science workshops, circus workshops and shows at the Children’s Village. Discover Wexford’s Viking past in the Viking tent where children can try their hand at brass rubbing and sword making. Base yourself in the area and take in some of the great activities taking place in Wexford.

Caidre Sligo Arts Festival 9th – 15th July 2017

Enjoy a week of Music, dance theatre, children’s events, visual art, street art and spectacle, Park Fest and more…Sligo will transform into a kaleidoscope of exciting and colourful cultural fun and entertainment. Staying at one of the sites in Sligo you can take in the many events taking place as part of the festival and have a fun filled holiday in Sligo.

Bray Summer Fest 22nd & 23rd of July 2017

This festival has a family friendly ethos providing specialised events for families, children and young people! Don’t miss the highlight, the award winning Air Display. Awe-inspiring aerobatic acts from across Europe will take to the skies in what is known as one of Europe’s best air displays. You can stay in Dublin or Wicklow and travel on the dart directly to Bray. Many great sites located within easy access to Bray or just a short distance from a Dart station.

Spraoi International Street Arts Festival, Waterford 4th – 6th August 2017

Spraoi International Street Arts Festival has an exciting programme of street performances including theatre, parade and music planned for this year. And especially for kids, Garter Lane Arts Centre presents SprÓg Childrens Festival, during Spraoi Weekend, with workshops all week and over the Spraoi festival weekend. Kilkenny Arts Festival 11th – 20th August 2017

In August the city of Kilkenny will come to life with the annual Kilkenny Arts Festival. There’s visual art, classical music, theatre and dance, jazz, world & traditional Irish music, literature, film, indie music, craft, children’s and street events and more – something for everyone! The parks in Kilkenny would be delighted to welcome you as part of this great festival

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Ennis 13th – 21st August 2017

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the most important event in the traditional music calendar. Over 400,000 visited the 2016 event so this is a festival well worth visiting. Don’t forget to book into your nearest campsite in Clare as soon as possible as spaces book up fast at this time of the year. Maybe you could have your own Fleadh session onsite.

National Heritage Week 19th – 27th August 2017

Events take place across the country, including opportunities for free guided tours of many of our heritage attractions. This is the perfect way to finish off the school holidays! Pick where you want to spend your last few days before school returns and no doubt there will be a host of events taking place in that area.
