About Lakeside Holiday Park

Ideal location for an activity holiday

A unique family orientated holiday park set in the heart of the countryside surrounded by native woodland, mountains, islands and the truly spectacular lake of Lough Derg.

This beautiful park, with its natural, tranquil surroundings offers a perfect holiday location for the whole family. There are a variety of pitches both on the waterfront, shaded with trees and open green areas with ample tent pitch spaces throughout the park. If sleeping ‘under the stars’ is too wild an adventure – try one of our Mobile holiday homes available for hire on the waterfront.

On-site amenities / activities: fishing, kayaking, rowing boats, motor boats, swimming, table tennis, tennis, soccer pitch and woodland walking trails to explore. For the authentic Camping experience, we have Fire pits’ available for hire, with firewood for sale at reception.

Pets are welcome but unfortunately not in our Mobile homes.

Free Wi-fi is accessible on the park and our native Red Squirrels, will point you to the hotspots!!

Our exceptional location offers sunset views of Holy Island’ which is one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland today. Visitors can experience the Island and get on the water’ by hiring their own boat directly from the park or be lucky enough to see a White Tailed Eagle fly past en-route to its nest on Cribby Island; located south off the park at ‘Eagles Bay’.

The picturesque village of Mountshannon is only a 20 minute walk, with shops, pubs and restaurants.

Reviews

  • Everything you needThis campsite is excellent. We stayed for 3 days over the October bank holiday weekend. It was our first time at this site so we didn’t know what to expect other than what we’ve seen on the internet. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the facilities were spotless and regularly cleaned. Of course we had biblical rain during October, so some of the campsite was a bit boggy. Those without wellies didn’t plan ahead properly. It is very obvious that the owners of the campsite are putting a lot of effort into refurbishing it. With a lot of fresh gravel on some pathways and new concrete pads by the diving board, boat harbour and other areas. We had the perfect pitch for our caravan at the waterfront which is something we personally look for in a campsite, so we couldn’t have been happier just a few feet away from the lake. It was perfectly suited for us, (2 adults and two dogs). Especially with a few short meandering nature trails off into the woods to the East of the campsite. Our two dogs couldn’t have been happier with regular walks and a few dips in the lake whenever the swans or ducks weren’t about. A small petrol station shop serves the town of Mountshannon, which is a few KM away, so best to make sure you have everything you need before you get to the site. We look forward to returning to Lakeside again in 2024! Stayed October 2023

Through Mountshannon Village on the Portumna Rd (R352), first turn right (sign-posted).
