Samhain is the Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter and also includes the great traditions of Halloween when the young and not so young get to dress up and celebrate. It also coincides with mid-term break in schools so many of you might be planning a few days away over the bank holiday weekend or next week. Be brought back to a time when the ancients believed that the spirits walked the land. Watch as a gathering of witches perform a ritual on the beach to welcome home An Bhean Uisce. Join in the lantern parade around the medieval town of Youghal and see an amazing firework display.<\/p> In Westport Westival<\/a><\/strong> takes place 24th<\/sup> ? 29th<\/sup> Oct. This is a new festival filled with local, national and international music, culture and artistic adventures, world premières and free family-friendly performances for all.<\/p> The Spirit of Meath Halloween Festival<\/a><\/strong> runs from 6th<\/sup> October to 4th<\/sup> November. This takes place throughout the county. From haunted hills to eerie graveyards, Tour of Shadows to friendly Witches and Spooks and spells, thriller nights to terrifying terror houses, the Spirit of Meath<\/a> Festival will delight and fright equally.<\/p> Kenmare Halloween Howl<\/a><\/strong> takes place over the weekend and runs until 2nd<\/sup> November. There are a load of activities taking place included haunted house, ghost bus, chocolate workshops, heritage walks, theatre workshops and many other great activities.<\/p> Wexford Spiegeltent Festival<\/a><\/strong> runs from 12th<\/sup> to 28th<\/sup> October has grown to be one of the biggest and most successful multi-genre festivals in Ireland. Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Paradiso Spiegeltent, the Festival has a unique and enticing atmosphere, blending the Olde Worlde feel of the Spiegeltents with the best in popular entertainment.<\/p> The Guinness Cork Jazz Festival<\/a><\/strong>, one of Ireland?s longest running and most successful music festivals will be in full swing this weekend. Over 1,000 musicians take over the city in an extraordinary blend of sounds across the entire jazz spectrum. Where better to celebrate the Samhain festival than at a lighthouse ? Féile Samhain at Hook Lighthouse<\/a><\/strong> takes place in Wexford<\/a> from 27th<\/sup> to 29th<\/sup> October. On Saturday, Sunday and Monday evening an ?Evening of Fire’ based on the ancient tradition of Samhain of extinguishing old and lighting anew will take place. Age-old tales of Samhain will be shared by ?Druids’ around the circles of fire at Hook Lighthouse; families are invited to gather around the blazing fire baskets beneath the ever-present beam of the 800 year old lighthouse to hear stories of druids and ancient Irish Samhain customs and heritage in the graveyard of one thousand ships<\/p>![\"\"](\"https:\/\/camping-ireland.ie\/blog-new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Westport-House-Hallow-fest3.jpg\")
Westport House<\/a><\/strong> will be hosting it?s annual Halloween Fest from the 27th to the 31st of October from 11:00<\/em><\/strong>am<\/em><\/strong> to 5:00pm.<\/em><\/strong> Get ready for plenty of ghoulish delights, scary stories and creepy fun that all the family will be able to enjoy!
